Here’s a fun 4th of July craft to do with kiddos!

A Craft a Day for the Summer!

Our theme this week is “Happy Birthday, America!”

Today we learned a bit about the US Flag, as well as sang a few songs to the tune of popular children’s songs. 

 

The Thumbprint Flag

Materials:

  • Red and Blue Paint
  • White Construction Paper
  • Pencil & Ruler

Preparation: Trace out an outline of a flag: the square in the left corner for the blue/stars and stripes going down (there doesn’t have to be 13).

Procedure:

Give out red paint and have the kids use one thumb to fill in every other stripe. Make sure to explain they are doing thumbPRINTS, not painting lines with their thumbs! What’s great about this is the look with the prints.

Then give out blue paint. Have the kids use another finger to apply the blue to the flag. They have the option to use it as the stars or not – this is…
